Ranked by independent legal publication Chambers and Partners as an ‘Associate to Watch’, Derek is also hailed as being “recognised by peers across the profession as a leader in this area”.
He joins Slater and Gordon at a time of development for the firm, with its Scotland office continuing to grow and see involvement in increasing numbers of high-profile cases from across the country.
In one of its most recent cases to attract national attention, the firm had a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) upheld on behalf of one of its clients, around the use of WhatsApp by a hospital consultant rather than them attending a mother shortly before she gave birth. The baby sadly died a number of days later.
