Joanne Gray is an associate in the clinical negligence team at Slater and Gordon Scotland.
I act on behalf of individuals and families to recover compensation for their injuries and losses arising from the devastating results of medical negligence. I recognise that my clients are going through some of the most challenging periods in their lives.
I also understand that the process of making a claim for medical negligence is entirely new to most clients, and that it can be overwhelming. I do my utmost to ensure that my clients are well supported and informed throughout the process. I always fight for the best outcome for my clients.
Get to know Joanne
I joined Slater and Gordon in 2023, having previously worked in the Serious Injury Department at Scotland’s largest personal injury firm. I work as an Associate within the Edinburgh medical negligence team.
I represent clients from all over Scotland in a wide variety of claims covering all aspects of medical negligence, including claims concerning birth injuries, surgical errors, nursing errors, misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis. I have particular expertise in claims involving complex/catastrophic injuries, including brain injury and amputation. I have acted on behalf of a number of families in relation to fatal claims following the loss of a relative.
I have a vast amount of experience litigating in the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts. I have appeared in Sheriff Courts across Scotland.
Career highlights
I have secured compensation for a number of very seriously injured clients. One highlight was securing a seven figure settlement for a client who had suffered a catastrophic stroke, having received an initial offer of £1,000.
I have had success within the Inner House of the Court of Session, overturning the Lord Ordinary’s decision in a complex brain injury case.
Whilst I am always proud to fight for clients to secure the compensation they deserve, the biggest highlight for me has been witnessing the strength and courage shown by my clients and their families in readjusting to the significant challenges they have faced.
